US President Donald Trump's senior Africa envoy has asked the UN to extend its arms embargo from Darfur to all of Sudan, warning the war could spread across the wider region.

Ukraine’s UN Ambassador Andriy Melnyk told the Security Council that Russia is already losing its war, accused Putin of deliberately terrorizing Ukrainian civilians with ballistic missiles and demanded sweeping sanctions and action against Moscow’s abuse of its UN veto.

The US has called for a UN arms embargo for Darfur to be broadened to the whole of Sudan. The change would require Security Council approval, with Russia warning it would hurt the Sudanese army.
