Some 60,000 migrants have entered Spain’s Ceuta from Morocco in the past 24 hours, Ceuta’s president says. That is equivalent to 70 per cent of the city’s regular population. At least 34 migrants have died in the process.

Officials estimate that more than 49,000 people crossed between Morocco and Ceuta in a 24-hour period.
