Panama-Flagged Cargo Ship Sinks 240 Nautical Miles Off Odisha Coast

Ship tracking platform MarineTraffic reported that the vessel had set sail from Paradip Port in Odisha and was on its way to Singapore at the time.

A Panama-flagged cargo vessel carrying iron ore from Odisha to Singapore sank in the Bay of Bengal on Saturday, officials told news agency PTI.The ship went down around 240 nautical miles off the Paradip coast with 24 crew members on board. Most of the crew were reportedly Chinese.The Indian Coast Guard and Indian Navy

The ship, owned by Polar Movement Shipping, was carrying weapons bound for a Turkish military training facility in Mogadishu, as well as communications and satellite equipment, the official said; the 10-member crew included six Indians, one Turkish national, one Georgian and two Serbian security guards
