Panama-flagged cargo ship sinks in Bay of Bengal, 240 nautical miles off Odisha
A Panama-flagged cargo vessel carrying iron ore from Odisha to Singapore sank in the Bay of Bengal on Saturday, officials told news agency PTI.The ship went down around 240 nautical miles off the Paradip coast with 24 crew members on board. Most of the crew were reportedly Chinese.The Indian Coast Guard and Indian Navy have launched a rescue operation, while other vessels in the area have been alerted to assist.“We are not sure how many of the crew members have been rescued,” a senior IPS officer told PTI.This is a developing story.
