A man has been arrested after a firearm was discharged outside a mosque, police have said.

Police will be on patrol in the area around the mosque while people attend for prayer

Police have previously suggested a link between anti-Jewish attacks in the city and shootings at the US consulate.

At least one shot was fired outside the U.S. Consulate in downtown Toronto early on Monday but there were no injuries, police said, in what was the second such incident in the last four months.

The police said that it was too early to say if the episode was linked to a shooting that targeted the diplomatic post in March.
