Council staff in Glasgow face nervous wait over pay and grading wage cuts

Council workers face a nervous wait after a new pay and grading scheme for Glasgow City Council staff has been approved.

Glasgow City Council has approved a sweeping pay and grading overhaul designed to end decades of equal pay discrimination but while 63% of 24,000 staff gain, around 11% face cuts of up to £11,500 a year.

UNIONS will protest outside Glasgow City Chambers tomorrow demanding that the local authority rejects plans that would see thousands of workers face immediate pay cuts of up to £10,000. Unison, Unite and GMB will call on the City Administration Committee to vote against the council’s pay and grading proposals at a meet
