Zambian opposition leader to file election challenge, alleging vote fraud

LUSAKA, Aug 19 - Zambian opposition leader Brian Mundubile said on Wednesday that he would challenge this week's presidential election result in court, alleging vote fraud in the contest that handed President Hakainde Hichilema a second term in office.

Security forces in Zambia have seized weapons and arrested 11 people, including senior opposition figures, allegedly involved in an insurrection plot, the government has said.

The authorities allege they were involved in an insurrection plot but the leading opposition candidate says there was an attempt on his life.
