Yemen's Houthis say attacked two Saudi oil tankers

The Houthis said on Wednesday that they attacked two Saudi oil tankers, as the rebels pressed on with their maritime blockade of the kingdom.

Saudi Arabia has not commented on the claims by the Houthis, who are backed by Iran and have vowed to close “all access routes” to Saudi oil shipments.

DUBAI, Aug 5 - Yemen's Iran-aligned Houthis said on Wednesday they had launched a missile attack on a Saudi oil tanker off the coast of the kingdom's Red Sea port city of Yanbu and another missile attack on a Saudi oil tanker in the Gulf of Aden.

Crude prices rose Wednesday after Yemen's Houthis claimed they had struck a Saudi Arabian oil tanker in the Red Sea.

Yemen’s Houthi militant group said it would attack Saudi oil tankers in the northern Red Sea, a potential fresh escalation in its attacks on shipping.

The Houthis said the strike was in response to what they described as Saudi drone incursions into the airspace over the Saada and Hajjah governorates in northwestern Yemen.

The Yemeni militant group, the Houthis, have claimed that they struck the Najran Airport in Saudi Arabia.
