The NYPD said its officers ‘engaged the woman in dialogue for four minutes and gave her numerous commands to drop the knives, which she refused’.

The police fired at the knife-wielding woman after trying to use less lethal force, officials said.

The stabbings occurred at 42nd Street and Seventh Avenue. The woman allegedly fled north toward the NYPD substation, where police confronted her, authorities said.

The conditions of the victims and the suspect weren’t immediately known.
