The woman behind the attack has reportedly had a history of mental health issues with New York police but no arrest record prior to her stabbing attacks on Tuesday.

It was not immediately clear how seriously injured the other victim was.

A woman who allegedly stabbed two people in gun-free Times Square at 4:26 p.m. was shot and killed by the NYPD approximately a minute later.

The woman and one of the stabbing victims reportedly died at the hospital, and the second victim is in critical condition

The police fired at the knife-wielding woman after trying to use less lethal force, officials said.

The stabbings occurred at 42nd Street and Seventh Avenue. The woman allegedly fled north toward the NYPD substation, where police confronted her, authorities said.

The conditions of the victims and the suspect weren’t immediately known.
