Officials are exploring a misdemeanor prosecution in the Lincoln Memorial pool case after prosecutors moved to drop the felony charge against Olympic canoeist David Hearn.

Rep. Jamie Raskin, D-Md., launched an investigation Tuesday into the prosecution of David Hearn in the case of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool.

Earlier this month, however, federal prosecutors moved to dismiss the case, citing new information that the damage was caused by a "botched installation" by a contractor, not vandalism.
