What to know about USS Lincoln as concerns raised about 9-month deployment, conditions on board

Senate Democrats are demanding answers about the conditions crew members are facing on the USS Abraham Lincoln. The ship has been deployed since Nov, 21, 2025, and its deployment has been repeatedly extended. CBS News' Major Garrett and Charlie D'Agata have the latest.

Deployment included a record-setting uninterrupted time at sea of more than 240 days, which raised concerns about the impact on service members as well as the increasing strain on the ship and its equipment

"If we expect the ship to endure, we have to maintain it. If we expect the crew to endure, we have to sustain them," an active-duty sailor argues.

The USS Abraham Lincoln set sail nearly nine months ago, and hasn't yet got a confirmed return date to its San Diego base.
