Weather maps show heavy, thundery rain forecast for Wales

Met Office weather maps show the return of the wet weather and it doesn't look good for the Bank Holiday weekend

Britain is bracing for heavy rain and widespread thunderstorms this week as a 'Spanish plume' weather system is forecast to bring significant downpours to 20 counties in England and Wales. Some parts of the country could see around 90mm of rain by Friday, offering relief after drought declarations.

It will be sunny and warm to kick off Saturday, but the rainy weather won’t be far behind.

MetService said snow would also fall in Otago and high-altitude roads across the South Island.

Heavy rain is expected for western areas of the South Island on Saturday, ahead of severe gales, high waves and snow on Sunday.
