President Trump dismissed family worries over the USS Abraham Lincoln's grueling 8-month deployment, claiming it has "not nearly" been long enough.

Concern about living conditions on a US aircraft carrier that has been deployed in the Middle East for more than 250 days is leading a US senator to demand answers from the military about the vessel and putting more pressure on the Trump administration over the Iran war.

"If we expect the ship to endure, we have to maintain it. If we expect the crew to endure, we have to sustain them," an active-duty sailor argues.

When he launched the war against Iran in late February, US president Donald Trump predicted it would last “four to five weeks”.

There are reports of food shortages, broken plumbing and other potential harms aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln, which has been at sea since November.
