WASHINGTON, July 28 - The U.S. Senate will begin voting on sweeping Russian energy sanctions legislation on Tuesday as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy visits the Capitol, seeing the vote as a tribute to the bill's author, the late Senator Lindsey Graham, on the day of his funeral.

Relations between Zelensky and Trump have long been strained but the US leader has in recent weeks shown greater indulgence to his Ukrainian counterpart.

Republican Senator Lindsay Graham's funeral is bringing the two world leaders to town, where they'll separately visit the White House to discuss their region's wars.

One of the aides said the Senate also was expected to begin voting as soon as during Zelenskiy's visit on a bill to impose sanctions on Russia that was championed by Graham.
