US Navy eyes port stops in Africa, India after USS Abraham Lincoln’s marathon deployment

The Navy’s top admiral says the service is changing how it does pre-deployment stocking and resupply and looking at different places to make port calls.

'Our family is taking time to be together. While we await the return of our proud Navy sailor, we kindly ask for your understanding and respect,' a statement from the family said.

The update came a day after the Department of Homeland Security said Luis Manuel Aviles Roa would remain detained.

The USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier is scheduled to dock in Thailand next week after a prolonged deployment in the Middle East, Thai officials said Tuesday.

Luis Manuel Aviles Roa, the father of a U.S. Navy sailor onboard the USS Abraham Lincoln, was released by ICE on Tuesday, his family told CBS News.

The Lincoln, which left the Middle East on Saturday, has not made a port call in more ⁠than 200 days, setting a modern-day record for consecutive days at sea.
