US: FDA recalls 19 million eggs over Salmonella risk

The US has issued a serious health warning over the recalled eggs, saying exposure to the potentially contaminated products could cause severe illness or death.

U.S. food regulators say 1.6 million cartons of recalled eggs can "cause serious adverse health consequences or death."

Class 1 indicates “a situation in which there is a reasonable probability that the use of or exposure to a violative product will cause serious adverse health consequences or death.”

The FDA classified a recall of 1.5 million eggs as Class I due to Salmonella risks. Midwest Poultry Services initiated the recall.
