The Okefenokee Swamp in Georgia has joined the list of UNESCO World Heritage sites.

The 25 new sites added to the historic list include the Taj Mahal in India, Machu Picchu in Peru and the Great Wall of China.

India now has 45 World Heritage Sites according to the UNESCO website. The last addition or ‘inscription’ was in 2024, with the Maratha Military Landscapes located Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu.
