UK's fifth 36C mega heatwave will see drought declared with health alerts in place

The bone dry weather is due to continue this week which will see several areas of England enter drought status. Southern England has gone nearly two months since any major rain

While Monday won't be quite as hot as the weekend, temperatures will ramp up ahead of the fifth widespread heatwave of the year.

Yellow heat health alerts have been issued by the UK Health Security Agency from Saturday and will remain in place until 9pm on Tuesday, covering the East Midlands, West Midlands and South East.

The health alerts run 9am Saturday to 9pm Tuesday and warn that the hot weather is likely to affect the wellbeing of the population.
