TOKYO (Kyodo) -- The weather agency said Tuesday that a typhoon may make landfall in east Japan's Kanto region including Tokyo this afternoon, warning

The storm is expected to continue into Monday with sustained winds of up to 162kmh before weakening and moving inland.

Chinese authorities declared a Level III emergency response, which has seen schools and tourist sites closed and hundreds of ships at ports docked.

Typhoon Dolphin lashed Japan's ​southern Okinawa prefecture on Saturday, injuring six people and cutting power to more than 50,000 buildings, while China shut ports ‌and halted ferries ahead of the storm's expected arrival on its east coast.

The storm left five people injured and cut power to 14,000 buildings in the prefecture.
