Typhoon Dolphin, "the biggest storm China has seen this year"

The weakening Typhoon Dolphin brought heavy rain and grounded hundreds of flights on Monday in eastern China, where authorities said more than a million people have been evacuated over the past few days. Our correspondent Jan Camenzind Broomby tells us more

Torrential rain and storms in Typhoon Dolphin's wake have swept through several provinces in China's east, drenching the coastal region and flooding streets in Shanghai, the country's second most populated city.

Typhoon Dolphin has lashed Japan's southern islands of Okinawa and turned towards China, where it is expected to make landfall late Sunday or early Monday local time.

A typhoon is lashing Japan's south, causing injuries and blackouts. It is now headed for China, where ports have been closed in preparation.
