A federal court on Friday again rejected President Donald Trump’s effort to move his New York hush money conviction into federal court, dealing a setback to his attempt to press presidential immunity arguments outside the state appeals process. The ruling, from Judge Alvin K. Hellerstein, blocks President Trump’s quickest path to overturning his 2024 conviction for covering up hush-money payments to a porn star.

Trump was convicted of 34 felony counts of falsifying business records related to a $130,000 hush payment to Stormy Daniels.

Judge Alvin K. Hellerstein reiterated his earlier finding against Trump, saying that the reasons Trump cited for renewing his request were “neither new nor legally sufficient.”
