President Donald Trump says US Attorney Jeanine Pirro “choked” and “folded like an umbrella” in moving to drop charges against a former Olympian accused of vandalising the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool.

The president also said Monday that he did not know the contractor who did the work on the pool.

The president ignored a question about whether he was considering firing her.

Trump claimed surveillance footage proved the pool's new liner had been vandalized and argued that Jeanine Pirro, a close political ally, should have continued pursuing the case.
