Thousands flee the Hawk Fire in Reno

The Hawk Fire has exploded in size, forcing thousands to evacuate from Reno, Nevada. CBS News' Jason Allen reports.

A wildfire named the Ross Fire has spread to 50,000 acres in Palo Pinto County, leading to mandatory evacuations.

About 42,000 people in the Reno, Nev., area have been ordered to evacuate from their homes as firefighters battle a wildfire northwest of the city.

No deaths have been reported, but at least six people have been injured, including three first responders, with several mountaintop houses destroyed, according to local media.

A fast-moving wildfire in western Nevada is prompting a state of emergency and tens of thousands of evacuations near Reno, as the National Guard is called in to help. The Hawk fire has burned more than 10,000 acres and is encroaching on the northern part of the city, causing the governor to issue a state of emergency.
