Thousands Cross Gordie Howe International Bridge on first day multi-use path opened

The Gordie Howe International Bridge's new multi-use path got off to a strong start with thousands of people taking advantage of the new international crossing on its opening day.

Generations have passed since James O'Neill first walked from Canada to the U.S. via the Ambassador Bridge. Now the 93-year-old lifelong Windsor resident can say he's done it again — on the Gordie Howe International Bridge.

As of 8 a.m. eastern on Wednesday, travellers can cross on foot or bicycle using the multi-use pathway on the Gordie Howe International Bridge.
