Thieves Smash Museum Case for Diamond Necklace Worth Millions in Vienna

The theft of the precious object, once owned by an Egyptian queen and later sold to satisfy her creditors, was the latest in a string of high-profile museum losses.

The International Criminal Police Organisation (INTERPOL) has flagged a diamond necklace once owned by Egypt’s Queen Nazli after the jewellery was stolen from an exhibition at Vienna’s Museum of Applied Arts in Austria.

The Van Cleef and Arpels necklace, with 673 precious stones and worth several million dollars, is the latest item snatched as high-profile robberies hit European museums.
