The world’s oldest person is celebrating a ‘lovely’ 117th birthday

Ethel Caterham became the oldest living person in April 2025 after the death of Brazilian nun Sister Inah Canabarro Lucas at 116.

Born on August 21, 1909 in Shipton Bellinger, Hampshire, southern England, as the second youngest of eight children, Caterham is the last surviving person born during the reign of King Edward VII.

Caterham marked her birthday with family and friends and shared a message thanking people for their good wishes.

The 117-year-old is is spending the day with her family and friends to mark the occasion
