Thailand suspended a controversial program that allowed police and local officials to buy discounted firearms and tightened gun controls after a student killed eight people in the country’s deadliest school attack in recent years.

Nine people were killed and an additional 23 ⁠wounded in the country's worst mass shooting since 2022, reigniting debate over firearms control.

Police say the alleged shooter had used at least 26 bullets, and another 34 rounds were found in his possession
