A network of Chinese fake social media accounts is spreading anti-data center material, the X platform warned, heightening concerns by members of Congress that the data center issue is being used by Beijing to divide Americans.

National security experts are sounding the alarm after X said it uncovered Chinese bots targeting U.S. debates over AI data centers and technology policy.

X found a bot farm in its investigation of inauthentic Chinese accounts. Out of 200,000 bots, 200 allegedly focused on posting against AI data centers.

Data centers and agriculture depend on many of the same resources, such as water, land and electricity, which has some in the industry worried about the future.
