The bearish sentiment surrounding China’s electric vehicle (EV) sector has intensified after three premium carmakers reported weak sales for July, further heightening concerns that the market is heading for another brutal price war. EV makers Xpeng, Nio and Li Auto all reported month-on-month sales declines last month,

China’s BYD recorded a 22% year-over-year increase in EV sales in July.

Petrol sales of the three oil biggies increased by 9.7 per cent to 3.45 million tonnes in July this year, compared with 3.14 million tonnes in the corresponding month last year.
