Hollywood star George Clooney and his human rights lawyer wife Amal have evacuated their French home near the southeastern town of Brignoles after a fast-moving wildfire broke out nearby, authorities said Thursday.

The Clooneys bought their Brignoles home on a vineyard in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region in 2021 when it had an estimated value of around $10.3 million.

As wildfires continue to ravage parts of southern Europe, the celebrity couple say they have “no idea” whether their French property will survive.

The fire has so far forced 220,000 people to flee in the region around the city of Bordeaux.

In central Spain, thousands of people sleep in shelters or in their cars, some of them evacuated multiple times ahead of the advancing flames, awaiting word on what they left behind.
