Technology must serve journalism, not destroy public trust – GJA President

The President of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), Albert Kwabena Dwumfour, has cautioned journalists and media organisations against allowing technology to undermine the ethical values and professional standards that sustain public trust in journalism.

Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei says the AI industry can only overcome public skepticism by delivering real scientific breakthroughs rather than promises. According to Amodei, Americans are beginning to think grand promises about AI are deceptive, and the only way to change that is AI "curing cancer."

Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei believes public negativity towards AI stems from a deep crisis of trust. He argues that genuine breakthroughs, not marketing, will rebuild credibility with ordinary people. Amodei stated that AI firms must deliver tangible benefits to regain public confidence. He also discussed AI regulation,

"I think by far the most accurate criticism of AI companies including Anthropic is that we haven’t yet delivered on our big promises to benefit the world."

Dario Amodei is pushing back against the idea that he's been painting an overly pessimistic picture of AI.
