Tata chairman’s shock exit move puts JLR owner's bets on chips, iPhones and Air India at risk

Tata Sons Chairman's sudden exit plan has sparked concerns over the Indian multinational's commitment to invest big bucks in projects of national importance.

Chandrasekaran said he would not seek reappointment when his term ends due to a lack of support from the Tata Sons board.

Between 2017 and 2026, chairman N Chandrasekaran pushed Tata into areas that were barely on its traditional business map.

The 63-year-old Chandrasekaran, who has been associated with the Tata Group for four decades, informed the Tata Sons board on Wednesday that he would not seek another term after his tenure expires on February 20, 2027.

Mr. Chandrasekaran acknowledged Air India needs to do a better job of communicating with passengers about these matters
