Swedish sword attack victim was 17-year-old girl, police say

The victim of a deadly sword attack at a high school in central Sweden was a 17-year-old girl, police have confirmed.

Two boys aged 12 and 17 were also injured in the attack, while an 18-year-old suspect has been detained.

Brinell School's principal says 18-year-old suspected of carrying out Friday's deadly sword attack was a student there.

An 18-year-old man armed with a sword carried out the attack at the Brinell School in Fagersta, northwest of Stockholm, while classes were in session on Friday. One person was killed and three others were wounded, two of them severely.

Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson visited the site on Saturday.

The person killed in a sword attack in a Swedish high school was a 17-year-old female student, police said on Saturday.

"The investigators are looking into various online communities which might have egged on the suspect to carry out the attack," said a police source.
