South Korea issues heatwave alert as temperature hits record

The Korea Meteorological Administration issued a severe heat wave alert for the southern parts of the country as of 1 pm local time.

Much of the country has been placed under heat warnings, with many cities seeing temperatures climb into the high 30s.
