South African police arrest 4 in the killing of former champion boxer Zolani Tete

Four suspects in the killing of former world champion boxer Zolani Tete were arrested, South African police said Monday.

Tete, who won world WBF flyweight and WBO bantamweight titles, was killed outside his home in Eastern Cape last week.

[Scrolla] Police arrested four suspects aged between 22 and 28 after Zolani Tete was shot dead outside his Mdantsane home. A 22-year-old faces murder and attempted murder charges, while police say more arrests could follow as the investigation continues.

Zolani Tete made history in 2017 when he took just 11 seconds to knock out his opponent with his first punch to retain his WBO bantamweight crown.

One of the suspects is due in court on Monday to be charged with murder and attempted murder.
