Sheriff in Nancy Guthrie case explains why he finally released ransom notes as investigation hits 6-month mark

Authorities recently released two ransom notes they believe to be from Guthrie's abductors.

"We are begging for help. We are desperate. We need someone to come forward. Someone knows something. Someone suspects something. Someone recognizes the writing in the ransom demand notes," the 'Today' show co-anchor wrote in part on Instagram Saturday.

Two ransom notes sent by people claiming to be the kidnappers of Nancy Guthrie were released Friday by local police in hopes of generating new leads.
