WASHINGTON, July 28 - The U.S. Senate will begin voting on sweeping Russian energy sanctions legislation on Tuesday as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy visits the Capitol, seeing the vote as a tribute to the bill's author, the late Senator Lindsey Graham, on the day of his funeral.

US senators unveiled a bipartisan sanctions bill targeting Russia and Iran that would allow President Donald Trump to impose tariffs on major buyers of Russian energy and extend sanctions against Tehran.

A bipartisan group of senators announced a deal Tuesday on long-awaited legislation to allow President Donald Trump to impose more restrictions on major buyers of Russian energy, as well as Iran.

One of the aides said the Senate also was expected to begin voting as soon as during Zelenskiy's visit on a bill to impose sanctions on Russia that was championed by Graham.

All 100 senators have been invited to a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky Tuesday evening at 6 p.m. in the U.S. Capitol, multiple sources confirmed to The Hill.
