S. Korea, U.S., 9 other countries issue joint alert on N. Korean IT workers

South Korea, the United States, Japan and eight other countries on Friday issued a joint alert about North Korean IT workers accused of generating revenue to help fund Pyongyang's weapons of mass destruction programs.

Pyongyang accused of using hard currency earned by AI-assisted workers to power armaments programme.

The joint advisory urged countries and companies to 'deepen their understanding' of the tactics used and implement measures to counter them.

They say the workers' labour is generating foreign currency to fund Pyongyang’s nuclear weapons programme.

In a joint statement, they said the country was using skilled workers under false identities “to fund North Korea’s unlawful nuclear weapons and ballistic missile programs.”
