Russia says more than 600 drones targeted Moscow region

The attacks injured at least three people, including a girl, and damaged a Wildberries warehouse, Russian officials say.

Russian officials said 637 Ukrainian drones targeted Moscow and the surrounding region overnight on Aug. 17-18, with several people injured and infrastructure damaged. A Wildberries warehouse caught fire, adding to mounting losses from repeated strikes on the e-commerce giant’s logistics network.

Ukraine and Russia have stepped up long-distance attacks, pushing the civilian death toll to its highest levels since the war’s first months in 2022.

A total of 620 drones flew towards the Moscow region overnight, Russian officials said, reporting that several people were wounded and buildings were struck.

The Russian military says it shot down nearly 1,500 Ukrainian drones overnight Sunday, marking a single-day record as Kyiv ramps up its attacks.

Moscow region governor said several sites belonging to Russia's largest online retailer Wildberries were also targeted in the attack.
