Russia and Ukraine swap 103 prisoners of war each

Russia’s Defense Ministry said it carried out a prisoner exchange with Ukrainian authorities in which each side handed over 103 people.

Ukraine's military intelligence head Oleh Ivashchenko said that another exchange was expected before the end of the month.

Russia and Ukraine have exchanged 103 prisoners each in their latest wartime swap, with the United Arab Emirates acting as mediator. The release offers another rare point of cooperation between the two sides as diplomatic efforts to end the conflict remain largely stalled.

KYIV, Aug 19 - Russia and Ukraine have exchanged 103 prisoners of war each, officials from both sides said on Wednesday, with Ukrainian intelligence saying another swap was expected before the end of the month.

Ukraine and Russia exchanged 103 prisoners each on Aug. 19, bringing 103 Ukrainian soldiers home from Russian captivity. The released Ukrainians include troops from the Armed Forces, Border Guard Service and National Guard who fought in Mariupol and across several regions.
