Rescue operation launched as vessel carrying almost 270 passengers and crew sinks off Kyrenia

Those rescued from the vessel were taken to Kyrenia port for transfer to hospitals, according to Turkish Cypriot Transport Minister Erhan Arikli.

The privately owned ferry immediately started taking on water for an unknown reason after leaving port.
