A push by fans to rename Nashville's airport for Dolly Parton appears to be taking flight just days after the country music icon's death.

Nashville International Airport could soon be renamed after Tennessee icon Dolly Parton, the governor and airport announced Friday.

The country music legend previously asked lawmakers to withdraw a bill for a statue of her at the state Capitol in 2021.

Tennessee’s governor and Nashville airport officials are backing the proposal, which gained momentum following the country music icon’s death.

As the world mourns Dolly Parton, Tennessee has plans to immortalize the late Queen of Country while welcoming visitors to Music City. On Friday, Gov. Bill Lee’s office announced a partnership with the Nashville International Airport (BNA) in conversations with Parton’s team to rename the airport in honor of the 11x Gr

The decision comes after a social media campaign by fans to change the airport's name to honor Parton after her death. Tennessee Governor Bill Lee spoke with Parton's team about the move this week.

In the days since her death, Dolly Parton has become the most-streamed artist in the world and might be getting an airport named after her. Nicole Valdes has more.

Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee announced plans to rename Nashville International Airport after Dolly Parton following a petition with over 155,000 signatures.

Tennessee Gov.
