Punjab CM Mann meets Governor, seeks parole for ex-CM Beant Singh assassination convict Hawara

Mr. Mann requested the Punjab Governor to consider granting 10 day-parole to Hawara on humanitarian grounds, saying that after 31 years, his ailing mother has a renewed hope of meeting her son

Ravneet Singh Bittu -- grandson of former Punjab Chief Minister Beant Singh for whose assassination Hawara was convicted, also chose to back the parole, making a distinction between justice for his grandfather and compassion for his elderly mother.
