Plea of cab drivers disposed as state govt grants 1-year time to learn Marathi

The Bombay High Court disposed of a petition challenging Maharashtra's Marathi language rule for drivers. This action followed the state government's decision to extend the deadline for learning the language by one year. The petition had argued that the rule violated fundamental rights of cab and auto-rickshaw drivers.

Additional government pleader Jyoti Chavan told a Bench of acting Chief Justice Ravindra Ghuge and Justice Gautam Ankhad that the government has decided to extend the time given to auto rickshaw and taxi drivers to learn the language by one year
