Plane debris discovered near provincial park amid search for missing 73-year-old pilot

Crews searching for a missing 73-year-old pilot have found plane debris near Queen Elizabeth II Provincial Park, but they have not yet determined whether it belongs to the aircraft they are looking for.

Durham regional police said the pilot had left at about 8:30 a.m. Friday and was expected back about an hour later. When he did not arrive, a search began.

Both Northumbria Police and the North of Tyne Mountain Rescue Team remain on the scene of the incident on Monday
