Person found dead in Bow River near Canmore Sunday morning

Police are investigating after a body was discovered in the Bow River Sunday.

Another person is in critical condition after being shot once outside a hookah lounge early Sunday morning.

A morning fight at a city venue led to one man being given trauma care, and two taken to hospital, with seven arrests made. The premises licence has now been suspended, pending a full review.

Three police cars and three ambulances are at the scene, a retail worker across the road says.

The incident occurred around 5.15 a.m., when Vijiyamma, a milk vendor and resident of Gangamahime Layout, was walking towards her shop near Panchamukhi Ganesh Temple.

The suspect is at large.

Bystanders captured the confrontation on video but there is no body camera footage of the shooting
