The US Defense Department signed a deal with Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman to boost production of missile-interceptor components.

At least nine people died, and more than 20 were injured after Russia struck Ukraine's capital with ballistic missiles. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy blames a lack of interceptor missiles for the deaths.

Trump said Washington has not approved licensed Patriot interceptor production in Ukraine, citing concerns over sharing advanced US weapons technology. His remarks mark a retreat from his July commitment as Kyiv urgently seeks protection from intensifying Russian ballistic missile attacks.

The president of Ukraine had warned that the country was running out of Patriot interceptors, the most reliable weapon it has to shoot down Russian ballistic missiles.
