Nigerian forces rescue 308 kidnap victims, presidency says

ABUJA, Aug 6 - Nigerian security forces have rescued 308 people abducted in separate attacks in northern Niger and Kwara states, in what President Bola Tinubu described as the largest same-day rescue operation carried out by a joint security team.

Troops conducting a special operation led by the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) have rescued 308 kidnap victims abducted about six months ago from communities in Kwara and Niger.

The victims were rescued from a location in the Kainji Lake National Park Forest. Sprawling, often sparsely governed forests and reserves across the country have turned into hideouts for Nigerian criminal groups.
