Nigeria: Many Worshippers Abducted From Niger Mosques During Juma'at Prayer

[Daily Trust] Terrorists have abducted dozens of worshippers from four mosques during last Friday's Juma'at prayer in Dekara, Kpenya, Sabon-Gida and Gidan-Zana communities, Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State.

Armed men abducted several worshippers from a ‌mosque in Nigeria's north-central Niger State during Friday prayers, police said on Saturday, in the latest mass kidnapping ​in a region plagued by violent gangs.

Suspected terrorists reportedly attacked the Kpenya Mosque while Muslims were observing Juma’at prayers.

Jihadists have reportedly slaughtered worshippers and kidnapped dozens, accusing victims of failing to follow their "interpretation of Islam".

Witnesses said men carrying guns and machetes set upon two villages in Niger State. Many details about the attack have yet to be confirmed by police.

This is the latest incident of mass kidnapping in a region plagued by violent gangs. Police spokesperson Wasiu Abiodun says that no lives have been lost while security teams assess rescue operations.
